Understanding Infertility
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. It can affect both men and women equally, and in many cases, multiple factors may contribute simultaneously.
Infertility is broadly classified into:
- Primary infertility – when a couple has never conceived
- Secondary infertility – when a couple is unable to conceive after a previous successful pregnancy
Timely evaluation and early intervention significantly improve treatment outcomes.
